Hive Alchemist
The HIVE is somewhere you recognize but cannot place. Between its overheated walls live The Queen and her minions: The Prince, Queen Mother, The King and many others. A tradition of the surreal in digital photography, a satire of social roles, and the structure of an urban matrix - all are involved in this project. The personalities that emerge are posed, dislocated, and show a tension in their stance. Another theme the use of photography to explore the idea of how individuals function in a collective monarchy. Since the HIVE members are alive, yet made from expired bodies, there is a theme of rising from the ashes as well.
