Dance, I think, could be taken to mean any rhythmical response to sound. I wasn't interested in photographing people dancing, and chose to follow a more abstract route.
I played music through a speaker with water resting on it, in order to try and create a direct visual representation of the sounds. Most music, I soon discovered, just bounced all the water off the surface. I needed to use a more continuous tone. After some research, I discovered there were countless other mad scientists out there, fascinated by the same phenomena. However, I still felt that I would be able to contribute something interesting visually.
I found myself in a very strange world, where water behaved in a most unusual manner. The resulting photographs document a very pure and direct interpretation of the sound. The geometric shapes formed in the water are clearly not natural, and hopefully pique ones interest because of this.
